The US military is planning a “Hellscape” for China. In the event that China invades Taiwan, the US would unleash hell. It would deploy thousands of unmanned submarines, unmanned ships, and aerial drones. This would keep China busy until help can arrive. With the head of US Indo-Pacific Command saying “I want to turn the Taiwan Strait into an unmanned hellscape using a number of classified capabilities so that I can make their lives utterly miserable for a month, which buys me the time for the rest of everything.” Unveiling this plan is of course an attempt to deter China from ever trying it. You develop weapons in theory, not to win wars although that’s an obvious bonus, but to deter and prevent war. And so you have this Admiral saying “The region has got two choices. The first is that they can submit, and as an end result give up some of their freedoms … or they can arm to the teeth”
