Captain Tom Moore made a Colonel on his 100th birthday

Captain Tom is to become Colonel Tom as the MoD has announced an honorary promotion for his 100th birthday. 

The Chief of the General Staff has promoted the veteran fundraiser and given him a new role. 

General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith, the head of the Army, has appointed Tom Moore as the first Honorary Colonel of the Army Foundation College, Harrogate, in recognition of his incredible NHS fundraising feat. 

Two flypasts will take place by Army Air Corps helicopters and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on Capt Moore’s 100th birthday on Thursday.
