It took six tries, but Carlos Vela and Los Angeles FC have finally beat Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s LA Galaxy, winning 5-3 in a Western Conference semifinal sure to be billed as an instant classic in Major League Soccer. Vela scored twice, as did LAFC substitute Adama Diomande, with Diego Rossi adding another for the hosts. Ibrahimovic, in what could be his last MLS game ever, scored on a goalkeeping blunder and assisted a goal from Cristian Pavon in the loss. LAFC moves on to face the Seattle Sounders with a spot in the 2019 MLS Cup Final on the line.
